I am a retired band director. I have taught in Mentor, OH (1968-72);Glen Ellyn, Il (1973-79); Willoughby-Eastlake, OH (1979-2000). I have a Bachelors in Music Education (K-12) from Kent State University (1964-68) and a Masters in Clarinet Performance from Northwestern University (1972-73).
I like many types of music and am proficient on Clarinet, Saxes and flute. I have keyboard experience but don't use it publicly at all anymore. I have played in many different Jazz bands and ensembles including some of the 1940's dance band leaders (though at the end of their careers). I have performed in and with different orchestras including the Oak Park Symphony Orchestra, the Lakeland Civic Orchestra and Band, and the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition, I have performed in smaller ensembles such as a woodwind choir, a clarinet, violin, piano trio (in Pine Bluff, Arkansas) and woodwind quintets.
I am learning and praciticing music composition. I was lucky enough to have had a master class with Pierre Boulez in the mid 1960's. My brother has been my biggest help in retirement and has encouraged me to write that which I didn't think I could.
