Alain is a trained composer with a Master's degree in composition from UBC where he studied under Stephen Chatman.
His classical music has been performed by numerous ensembles throughout North America. Most recent premieres include The Tears of Pirene by the Erie Saxophone Quartet, Uriel's Anvil by the Erato Ensemble, Blue Drive and The Sands of Time by the Kwantlen University College Symphonic Winds.
His book A Garden of Music, a collection of 21 character pieces for piano, was published in 2006 to great international acclaim.
Alain has also scored 18 films over his career, including the Leo nominated score for Echoes of an Epic , which was recorded in Moscow by the Russian Stare Symphony Orchestra. His orchestral score for The Citizen was performed in concert by the Ramat Gan Chamber Orchestra in Israel.
Alain is also an accomplished guitarist, pianist, flutist, percussionist and cellist.
Alain was recently commissioned by the software manufacturer Synful to write orchestral demos for their website. Synful is a software for orchestral emulation used by film, TV and game composers.
He currently lives in Vancouver, Canada with his wife and two young sons.
